Vintage 1950’s Weber Carburettors Porcelain Sign 19′ x 27′
Here we have quite possibly the best surviving example of an original "Weber Carburettors Authorized Agent" porcelain sign in the world.
It measures 19" x 27"
Also known as porcelain enamel, or vitreous enamel, the process of creating such signs was popular from the 1890s through to approx 1950 and was a labour intensive process of applying several layers of varying coloured powdered glass, being fired in a kiln between each layer.
This sign has lived it's life indoors and is in excellent condition. The colours are not faded and are as vibrant as when they were first applied over 70 years ago.
It is in near perfect condition with only some very minor chips on the corners. The chips are only on the side and not on the front. The chips are in fact difficult to see as the sides are black. The front and rear are basically perfect.
The bottom of the sign bears the artists name.
